Pattern

Donk,Dink
Bamboo chimes in a gentle breeze
Ting, tang
Steel chimes a two tone melody.

A rose-breasted hummingbird buzzes by
Feeder-bound
The house wren insists the woodstack is hers
Crickets channeling the background cosmic radiation
A persistent click-drone as old as the universe.
A phalanx of Canada geese heading south trumpet their exit
The doppler groan of passing cars on Old Church and Mount Pleasant
The death-exhale of the Anthropocene.

Cold feet just beyond the blanket
As collie's ears twitch;
Love, lost in Arakkis.
A raven coiks and the crows chatter
The bumble bee is a disappointed vistor to the Passion flower

In a moment
Flows pass for solid states
Names and numbers
In a moment
I embrace a pattern
And lament as it leaves
